This article examines Kosovo's district heating (derived heat) infrastructure and the investment opportunities it presents. District heating in Kosovo has shown significant growth, rising from 1.21 ktoe in 2012 to 6.60 ktoe in 2024 in the service sector alone. This growth trajectory, combined with the country's heavy reliance on inefficient individual heating systems, creates substantial opportunities for modern district heating, cogeneration and heat network investments.
The main findings obtained from the uploaded Kosovo Statistical Agency (ASK) derived heat sectoral consumption files are as follows: Striking Jump in Total Consumption: Energy__Overview of consumption of derived heat in all economic sectors expressed in kto.csv file, while the produced heat consumption across all sectors was only 3.44 ktoe in 2012, it reached 20.20 ktoe in 2024 with stable infrastructure investments. This is approximately the 5th market share in a 12-year period.
