Companies that will make industrial investments can protect themselves from high coal and electricity bills by installing solar panels for self-consumption on the roofs of their factories in Kosovo (prosumer model) and gain the advantage of "Carbon Tax at the Border" (CBAM) when exporting their products to Europe.
The main findings obtained from the uploaded ASK energy production and primary supply files (Energy__Overview of primary energy quantity of energy sources _products_ available _ktoe.csv and Energy__Electricity production and consumption_ 2022M01 - 2026M01.csv) are as follows: Giant Leap in Wind Energy: Wind energy in Kosovo's primary energy supply was completely zero (0.00 ktoe) in 2013. It made a significant entry with 2.56 ktoe in 2018, and will reach the 31st place with a huge leap in 2022.
Development of Wind Energy Primary Supply in Kosovo (2013-2024)
The graph above clearly shows that wind energy investments in Kosovo have started from scratch in the last 10 years, leading the country's green energy transformation.

- ✦How should energy imports and fossil fuel dependence be read in terms of green energy investment? The fact that Kosovo still imports significant electricity during the winter months and is 100% dependent on foreign oil indicates that every domestic megawatt (MW) given to the grid has a strategic value.
- ✦Location and industrial zone selection: Companies that will make industrial investments can protect themselves from high coal and electricity bills by installing solar panels for self-consumption on the roofs of their factories in Kosovo (prosumer model) and gain the "Border Carbon Tax" (CBAM) advantage when exporting their products to Europe.
- ✦The grid's structural need for local green energy makes rooftop self-consumption SPP investments for factories profitable, as well as large-scale land SPPs.
- ▲Since this may be a periodic data deficiency or classification change, solar energy capacities should be checked separately from the licensing institutions.
- ▲(Warning: Although these rates and sizes in ktoe/MWh show the official growth volume of the market, this data alone is not sufficient for the investment decision; network capacity (transformer) suitability and license quotas of the projects should be separately examined by local authorities.
