According to the Labour Market and Employment data (2012-2024) published by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK), the country's macro labour landscape exhibits distinct trends: Labour Force Participation and Employment: As of 2024, the labour force participation rate among the population aged 15-64 in Kosovo stands at 43.2%. The overall employment rate during the same period was recorded at 38.6%. The total number of employed persons aged 15-64 nationwide reached 414,493 as of 2024. Unemployment Rate Trend: The overall unemployment rate, which stood at 25.9% in 2020, showed a steady decline in subsequent years, falling to 10.8% by 2024. This rate was measured at 7.7% for men and 18.0% for women. Inactive Population (Out of Labour Force): The rate of economic inactivity among the working-age population (15-64) was 56.8% in 2024, corresponding to 610,137 persons. Gender Distribution: The gender gap in labour force participation is pronounced. The male labour force participation rate stands at 60.6%, while the female participation rate remains at 25.9%.
