An examination of the Prices__Annual CPI_HICP changes by main COICOP groups_ 2003M05 - 2026M02.csv data file published by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) reveals that the annual percentage changes in the overall market (Total HICP) have drawn a distinct "volatility followed by normalization" curve in recent years. 2021 Year Stability: In January 2021, the annual change in overall prices was at -0.2%, rising to 6.7% by December 2021 due to global effects. 2022 Year Peak: As a reflection of global supply crises and increased energy costs, the overall HICP annual change reached its peak at 14.2% in July 2022, closing 2022 at 12.1% in December. 2023 and 2024 Normalization Process: The price increase rate, which gradually declined in 2023 (falling from 12.0% in January 2023 to 2.3% in December 2023), settled into a stable band in 2024. Current Outlook: Throughout 2024, the annual inflation rates reported on a monthly basis fluctuated within a narrow band between 0.2% (September 2024) and 2.4% (June 2024), with the December 2024 figure recorded at 1.1%.
The deceleration and predictability of inflation reduces unexpected deviations (deviation margins) in budgeted expense items when preparing investment feasibility studies. This makes cash flow and break-even calculations more reliable. I) "The annual HICP change measuring overall market inflation in Kosovo has declined from the peak of 14.2% in July 2022 to 1.1% as of December 2024." "Kosovo's annual price increase rate, which was 12.0% in January 2023, fell to 2.3% in December of the same year, demonstrating a strong deceleration momentum."
