Kosovo has undergone a tremendous transformation in its education base over the past thirteen years, becoming one of the region's notable qualified talent pools. The 2024 census results demonstrate a striking increase in higher education and high school graduation rates. The more than doubling of university graduates' share in the general population is a critical investment advantage, particularly for sectors requiring white-collar workforce such as information technology (IT), finance, business process outsourcing (BPO), and international service exports. From the perspective of foreign companies, Kosovo is transforming from merely a cost-focused market into a strategic operations center providing qualified and trainable human resources.
Based on Census_population__Key Education Indicators for the years 2011 and 2024.csv and Population aged 10 years and over by educational attainment and literacy data. Key findings: Twofold Growth in Higher Education: Based on the population aged 10+, university graduation rate (Bachelor's, Master's, PhD) surged from 8.18% in 2011 to 17.17% by 2024. High School Graduation (Upper Secondary): According to 2024 data, 34.97% of Kosovo's population aged 10+ holds a high school diploma. Educated Population Density: Current census data shows that more than half (52.14%) of Kosovo's population aged 10+ holds a high school or university diploma. Caution: This data alone is not sufficient for investment decisions; beyond this general increase in education levels, the alignment of specific fields of graduation (engineering, medicine, business, etc.) with the sector you plan to invest in must also be reviewed.
Broad populations with high school and university education constitute the core white-collar workforce for call centers, software support, data analysis, and customer service — the main raw material for 'Business Process Outsourcing' (BPO) companies. Which sectors does the education-oriented young population grow?
The increase in academic competence not only boosts service exports; it also creates a more conscious consumer base with higher consumption standards for modern retail, professional vocational training courses, and the technology market (computer and software sales).
