BRIEF SUMMARY Kosovo's healthcare system main gateway, Primary Healthcare Services (Family Medicine Centers - QMF), is the area where the population's daily healthcare demands are most intensely experienced. According to Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK) data, in 2023, over 3.2 million patient visits were made to Family Medicine centers nationwide; the number of medical interventions and services applied within these visits exceeded 7.6 million. This extraordinary outpatient treatment and intervention (injection, dressing, ECG, minor surgery) load in the public sector extends waiting times; consequently, for patients seeking rapid and comfortable service, it directly creates a sustainable market for "out-of-pocket" modern private polyclinics, Class-A medical centers, and retail pharmacy investments integrated with these facilities.
In addition, meeting the prescriptions written in this ecosystem, where 3.2 million visits are made annually, creates a perfect basis for retail pharmacy (Farmaci) investments. Polyclinic and pharmacy integration is the most profitable cross-selling model in the healthcare industry. However, the Kosovo Ministry of Health has strict licensing rules regarding both the architectural standards of private medical centers (disabled access, etc.) and pharmacy openings (distance quota to the population and other pharmacies). For a successful investment, it is essential that these legal processes are managed by local experts.
