u According to official records, the number of nurses working in Family Medicine Centers (QMF) in Kosovo in 2023 alone is 3,283, while the number of doctors is 1,199. When General Hospital data from previous years is added, it is seen that approximately three nurses are employed for every physician in the Kosovo health system. This high rate is a very positive signal for entrepreneurs planning to invest in a private hospital, dialysis center or elderly care home (nursing home). Because the operational backbone of such inpatient facilities requiring continuous care is nurses and caregivers working in shifts. Kosovo's competitive HR costs significantly reduce the operational expenses (Opex) of the investment compared to other regions of Europe. The regional distribution of Qualified Labor Force Personnel data in metropolitan cities also supports real estate and location selection. The capital, Pristina, is the city with the highest concentration of qualified workforce, with 843 primary healthcare workers (about 500 of whom are nurses). This is followed by Prizren and Pejë (Silk). Locating the Class A hospitals to be established in these metropolitan cities facilitates access to both patient demand and local health professionals to be transferred.
As the t Venture team, our analysis is this: Although the local physician pool in Kosovo is sufficient for certain branches, it is a normal practice of the market to bring in foreign physicians for specialized surgery or rare medical fields (e.g. Robotic Surgery, Advanced IVF). However, according to Kosovo law, the practice of medicine is subject to strict regulations. Foreign physicians must obtain diploma equivalence (nostrification) through MASHTI, be licensed by the Ministry of Health and be accredited by the relevant Professional Chambers. Initiating these processes with legal consultants at the initial stage of the investment will prevent delays in facility opening.
