The official data on 'Persons convicted by type of crime (2003-2019)' published by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK) clearly maps the place of economic and financial violations in the justice system. When examining the statistics, a highly noteworthy trend emerges. The total conviction count across Kosovo dropped sharply from 193,085 in 2016 to 20,453 in 2019 with the decrease in traffic and other minor violations. However, despite this massive decline, convictions under the 'Economy' heading maintained a notable stability: 2016: 3,833 Economy and 131 Finance crimes out of 193,085 total convictions. 2017: 4,410 Economy and 116 Finance crimes out of 93,545 total convictions. 2018: 3,942 Economy and 80 Finance crimes out of 36,668 total convictions. 2019: 4,186 Economy and 88 Finance crimes out of 20,453 total convictions. The data proves that the judicial system determinately maintains its oversight power regarding economic regulations and commercial rules at an average of 4,000 convictions per year, independent of fluctuations.
