An examination of the Prices__Average annual CPI _ HICP by main COICOP groups by COICOP_ 2002 - 2024.csv data file published by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) reveals the following key findings: The General Consumer Price Index (CPI/HICP) stood at an annual average of 78.1 in 2002, reached the base year value of 100.0 in 2015, and rose to 130.1 by 2024. Examining the recent period marked by the pandemic and global supply chain crises, the general index of 109.3 in 2021 rose to 122.0 in 2022, 128.0 in 2023, and then climbed to 130.1 in 2024 with diminishing momentum. Divergences exist across expenditure groups. As of 2024, the "Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages" group index stands at 145.3, tracking above the general index (130.1), while the "Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels" group (123.6) and the "Transport" group (120.5) remained relatively below the overall price increase rate.
Historical CPI data, by showing the inflation trend, enables businesses to create more realistic simulations (worst/best case scenarios) for operating expenses (rent, consumables, etc.) and potential product shelf prices over the next 3 to 5 years.
