BRIEF SUMMARY Oncology (cancer treatment) and advanced diagnostic services in Kosovo constitute one of the most critical and inelastic (mandatory) areas of the healthcare market. According to official Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK) data, between 2,500 and 2,900 new malignant (cancer) cases are reported and treated nationwide each year. The majority of cases consist of digestive and respiratory tract cancers, with patients geographically concentrated around the capital Pristina and Prizren. The long-term nature of cancer treatment, capacity limitations of radiotherapy/chemotherapy equipment in state hospitals, and the high rate of patient referrals abroad create profitable and sustainable investment potential for private "Specialty Oncology Hospitals," PET-CT imaging centers, and "Palliative Care" facilities for terminal patients to be established in Kosovo.
t Oncological investments should not be limited to active treatment only. Private "Palliative Care" centers, where incurable terminal cancer patients can live their lives in dignity with pain management (algology) and psychological support, are a niche real estate and healthcare investment that is almost untouched in Kosovo, but supported by the high funding power of the diaspora. As Kosovo Investment Joint Venture, we recommend that complex legal processes such as radiation safety, device imports and specialist doctor work permits are resolved at the project stage.
