The responses of Kosovo citizens to the question "Are elections in Kosovo democratic and in compliance with international standards?" by gender present a historic recovery in democratic institution-building: Collapse in Absolute Pessimism (Not at all): In March 2011, the percentage of men who thought elections were "not at all" democratic was 37.2%, while for women it was 35.8%. By May 2024, this deep distrust toward elections had shown a radical decline to 7.2% for men and 9.1% for women. Mostly Approved (Yes mainly): The percentage of those who stated elections "mostly" comply with international standards rose from 27.7% to 35.4% for men and from 28.2% to 40.0% for women between 2011 and 2024, establishing a broad trust base in society. Building of Full Trust (Yes fully): The segment that believed elections were "fully" democratic was at single-digit figures of 7.6% for men and 6.0% for women in 2011; in May 2024 data, this rate more than quadrupled to 34.4% for men and soared to 25.2% for women, certifying ballot legitimacy
