When examining the responses of Kosovo citizens to the question "Does the media in Kosovo enjoy freedom of expression?", a very clear positive trend is visible in the perception of transparency and information freedom in society: No Freedom of Expression (Not at all): In March 2011, the percentage of men who thought the media was "not at all" free was 33.1%, while for women it was 32.1%. By May 2024, this rigid distrust regarding the media being censored or under pressure had shown a dramatic decline to 6.4% for men and 10.2% for women. Mostly Free (Yes mainly): The percentage of those who stated the media "mostly" enjoys freedom of expression was 23.3% for men and 23.6% for women in 2011; in May 2024 data, this rate rose to 38.1% for men and 42.0% for women. Full Freedom Belief (Yes fully): The belief that the media is completely free was in single-digit figures in 2011 (Men 7.9%, Women 8.5%), and by 2024 this rate reached 33.0% for men and 26.5% for women, certifying that media independence is broadly endorsed by society
