This article analyzes Kosovo citizens' expectations for their family income (purchasing power) over the next 6 months, using UNDP Public Pulse data between 2011 and 2024. Statistics show that contrary to extreme scenarios expecting major upheaval in family incomes or rapid enrichment, the vast majority of society has a neutral expectation that the income situation will "not change" (remain stable). Particularly for brands targeting investment in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), e-commerce, and retail sectors, this indicates that consumption appetite and routine spending capacity in the domestic market traces predictable stability in the short term. However, per Kosova Investment Joint Venture editorial principles, this stability in consumer expectations does not directly provide a market guarantee or high sales volume promise; companies' pricing strategies, competitive analyses, and tax costs must be specifically subjected to feasibility assessment by experts
When examining the responses of Kosovo's public to the question "What are your expectations regarding your family's total income in the next six months?" by gender, it is evident that short-term consumer psychology has settled on a stable foundation: Stable/Neutral Expectation (Neither favourable, nor unfavourable): In March 2011, the percentage of men who thought family income would remain the same was 47.0%, while for women it was 55.8%. In May 2024 data, this "stagnation" expectation maintained its dominance at 42.1% for men and 46.3% for women. Optimism (Favourable): The segment expecting their income to improve, while remaining in a narrow band over the general period, showed a slight recovery. The percentage of men with "favorable" expectations in 2011 was 17.9%, and by May 2024 had risen to 22.2%. For women, a horizontal trajectory was observed from 20.2% in 2011 to 19.1% in 2024. Pessimism (Unfavorable): The pessimistic perception that family income would worsen was 35.1% for men and 24.0% for women in 2011; by 2024 this rate was 35.7% for men and 34.6% for women, entrenched at a certain base
